It's really great to know how a loving mom has quality time with her daughter. It's just that I found a typical mistake many Japanese people make without knowing it. The culprit is the expression "I challenged it"「私はそれに異議を唱えました/それに対抗しようとしました」. If you look up the word "challenge" in the English dictionary (英英辞典,not 英和辞典), as verb, it doesn't have a meaning of "try something (…にチャレンジする)。 You can use it as noun to mean "チャレンジ". You may want to read an article I wrote in my blogging site about how to use "challenge" properly. You can find it in the category entitled "激ヤバ和製英語に注意".
