Hair Crabs

My husband bought hair Crabs from Hokkaido.

Happily, my husband and I have a day off today.

I will be able to spend Christmas Eve with my family.

I am looking forward to having the crabs for Christmas dinner tonight!

With best wishes and Merry Christmas.

Too long holy night

My children and I went to bed at 9pm as usual last night.

As I wrote in my past post, my husband was going to place our children's Christmas presents under the Christmas tree in the living room.

But my 6-year-old son suddenly woke up around 0:30am and checked whether  his present was near his pillow.

Since my husband had not come home yet, he couldn't find his present.

"Santa-san has not come here yet. He might not come today."

He looked so worried and almost cried.

"Don't worry. Santa will surely come. Maybe he is very busy now tdistributing a lot of presents. Go to sleep."

He seemed not to be able to fall asleep easily.

After a while, my husband came home.

My son heard his dad opened the door, he said:

"Dad has come home. If Dad is awake, Santa-san can't come! I can't get a present this year!"

"It will be Okay! It is still 0:30am. The night is long, isn't it? Don't worry. Santa-san will come."

He started crying.

I was so surprised that he believes in Santa purely.

I got up and went to the living room to tell my husband:

"He is still awake and he says that Santa will not come if you are awake. Furthermore, he believes that Santa will place his present near his pillow. Maybe I should place his present near his pillow early in the morning."

I went back to our bedroom.

My son was still awake and said:

"Santa has not come yet because my sister tosses around in bed! Look! She is sleeping in such a strange form!"

He was completely excited.

"I told Dad to go to bed as soon as possible so that Santa will be able to come soon. No worries."

I patted his back kindly.

It took a long time for him to go to sleep.

When I found myself sleeping, it was 2:30pm.

My son was sleeping well.

Since my son might wake up again, I placed his present near his pillow.

Since my husband was still awake in the living room, I told him:

"Please go to bed now. If our son wakes up again and finds his present and he notices that you are still awake,  he will wonder how Santa came into our house!"

My 5-year-old daughter woke up at 4am and she wanted me to go to the washroom.

She said:

"Has Santa-san already come?"

In fact, my husband placed her present under the Christmas tree because it was too big to place near her pillow.

I was worried whether she might notice that her present was not near her pillow, while her brother's was.

But she went back to her bed and fell asleep soon.

I was relieved.

It was a long long night for me.

They are still sleeping now.

I hope they will be glad of their presents.

Hasty Santa Claus

I asked my husband to place our children's Christmas presents under the Christmas tree on the night of Christmas Eve. They had been hidden in the closet two days ago.

He doesn't know about my hard efforts as Santa at all.

I obtained the information about what Christmas presents they want.

I searched and bought them on the internet.

I considered how to receive them without being noticed by my children.

I considered where to hide them and decided to hide them in the closet...

He was not concerned with these things at all.

All of this is for our children.

I don't want to shatter their dreams.

But I wanted him to make some effort to carry out Santa duties.

He comes home at midnight every day.

If he places their presents when he comes home, I don't have to get up at midnight.

But I was worried about him a little because he would make an unanticipated mistake.

My anxiety proved right.

When I came in the living room this morning, I found their presents under the tree.

Christmas is tomorrow!

I hid them again in hurry.

I couldn't stop laughing because my expectation had come true.

There is a Christmas song called "Hasty Santa Claus" in Japan.

In the lyrics, Santa comes before Christmas, ringing the bells.

I think he is just like the Santa in the song.

I hope that he will finish his duty tonight without mistakes!

Furoshiki of December

I wrote that I display Furoshiki at the entrance of my house in my previous post.

( My past post : http://a-o-j-m.blogspot.jp/2015/02/furoshiki-of-february.html )

Furoshiki is a traditional square cloth and it is usually used to wrap something to carry them.

I have twelve Furoshiki drawn with the nice pictures which we can feel the change of the seasons and I replace them once a month.

But I haven't replaced this months Furoshiki even though I had thought that I should have done.

I will need to replace it only 3 days later!

What do you want for Christmas?

I had a day off yesterday and my 6-year-old son came back from school earlier than usual.

We went to the nursery school to pick my 5-year-old daughter up at 2pm then went to the shopping mall.

We found a rare Christmas event there.

It was to write a message using a small square of paper to Santa Claus and  hang it on the Christmas tree.
It was like Tanabata!

(Tanabata is one of the Japanese traditional costoms. We write our wishes on colorful paper strips and hang them on bamboo leaves on the night of 7th July.)

My 6-year-old son wrote that he wants LaQ bonus sets.

(LaQ is a little block. I wrote about LaQ in my past post : http://a-o-j-m.blogspot.jp/2015/01/japanese-block-laq-is-excellent.html )

My 5-year-old daughter wrote that she wants a kickboard.

Unfortunately, I couldn't read her letter.

"If I can't read your letter, Santa-san also will not be able to read it, and he will not understand what you want."

"I did my best! I want a kickboard!"

They still believe in Santa Claus.

If I can't read her letter, she will not be able to receive the gift she hopes!

My mission of becoming Santa was over

My children woke up earlier than I expected yesterday.

They came to the living room holding Christmas presents from Santa in their arms.

At first they looked sleepy, but after they opened their presents, their faces were filled with big smiles

My 5-year-old son got a robot of hero series like Power Ranger.

He got the left one this time.

These three can be united like the photo below.

Additionally, they become trains after they break up because the theme of this hero series is train.

My 4-year-old daughter got the costume of Elsa from Frozen.

She was so glad and changed her clothes immediately.

She initiated the last part of "Let It Go".

She was so glad and blushed a little to see her own figure of the queen.

Her gesture was so funny and cute.

My mission of becoming Santa was over.

That was hard, but their smile made me very happy!

Merry Christmas! ~ My son can't wait for coming Santa ~

My 5-year-old son told me before he went to the nursery school yesterday, "Please pick us up as late as possible today!"

I asked him why.

He said, "Because the night will come sooner."

He seemed that he couldn't wait for coming Santa!

Since I had a day off yesterday, I went last minute shopping at the supermarcket.

I could feel Christmas season there, I could hear Christmas songs, Christmas cakes were being sold at the special event space.

I was so excitied that I bought presents for my children as their mother ( I mean, not from Santa ).

After I picked them up from the nursery, we went to the cake shop to buy Christmas cake.

The shop was so crowded and we enjoyed choosing our favorite cakes.

( We chose four slices of cake because a whole cake is too much for us.)

On our way home, I got a email from my husband and it said that he would arrive at the station near my house about 5pm.

He always comes back home late ( he always comes back after we go to bed), so we were glad to hear that and we decided to go to the station to pick him up.

We enjoyed Christmas dinner!

I made clam chowder and prepared some vegetables.

In fact, I am not good at cooking, so I bought Christmas Chickens at the supermarket.

It was yummy!

And we enjoyed cakes!

I gave them Christmas boots for them.

Some snacks are in them and these are sold at supermarkets in the Chrismas season.

While eating, my son told me many times, "Let's take a bath and go to bed!"

I asked him, "You can't wait for Santa, right?"

He said "Yeah, I want to sleep as soon as possible!"

It was so fuuny because he usually never says like this.

After taking a bath, they put their socks near their pillows.

But they were so excited that they couldn't go to sleep easily.

Since I went to sleep earlier than them, I didn't know when they fell asleep.

Since I woke up at 11pm, so I placed Christmas presents near their pillows so as not to wake them.

Then my son woke up about 1am and noticed the present.

He woke me up and said with a smile, "Santa has already come! Can I wake up?"

I told him, "No way! It is still midnight now! Please sleep again!"

He got angry with me and woke his father and said the same thing again.

He seemed not to fall asleep again, but he was tired and ended up sleeping after a while.

He will not be able to wake up early this morning though he wants to play with his present of the toy!

I am ready for becoming Santa!

I went to the convenience store near my house on my way home to receive a package after I finished working yesterday.

It was a Christmas present for my son.

I ordered their presents on the internet because I couldn't find those of their hopes at the store near my house.

Since my children always go to the entrance and say hello to the delivery person when home delivery service comes home, I guessed that especially my son would notice what it is if I ordered a present for him to send to our house.

That's why I used the service of the convenience store receipt of the Amazon.

I came back home and I hid it not to be found by them, and I went to the nursery school to pick them up.

While I was reading a book for my children after we finished dinner, the delivery service rang the bell of my house.

I guessed that it was the delivery of my daughter's Christamas present.

(Since the present for my daughter is small thing, I guessed that they would not notice that this is a Christmas present, so I used the home delivery service.)

Just as I expected, they came with me and said hello to the delivery person, but fortunately, they didn't show any interest to the package.

I restarted reading a book for them as if nothing had happened.

I finished wrapping their presents, and I am waiting for becoming Santa!

In our family's case, children put their socks near their pillows.

Santa will put their presents on the socks while they are sleeping.

I think this way is the most popular in Japan.

I must place the present not to wake them up!

I am looking forward to seeing my children happy.

When I was a child, I was so glad to find a present beside my pillow after I woke up.

Their happiness is my happiness.

Which Christmas Cake do you want to eat?

I found the newspaper flyer of the Christmas cake of Japanese style confectionery store yesterday morning.

They make not only Japanese style confectionery but also serve cakes only in Christmas season.

I found the Christmas cake of the Japanese sweet in it.

These small cakes are made of sweet bean paste and rice cake sweets.

They look yummy!

But my children and I like these cakes more↓.

When the Christmas season comes every year, I like collecting handbills of  Christmas cakes and looking at them leisurely every year.

I asked my children which cakes they want to eat.

My 5-year-old son answered " I like the cake which the train is on!"

My 4-year-old daughter answered " I like this and this and this... Oh! I like to eat all of them!"

We usually enjoy only looking at them, and I don't order the cakes like these because my children can't eat so much and my husband doesn't like sweets either.

If I order a whole cake, I must eat almost of it!

The whole cake is too much for me.

I can be satisfied with only a slice of cake.
