Where has the typhoon gone?

I received the email from my 7-year-old son's elementary school yesterday morning.

It said that they won't prepare school lunch today (Thursday) and parents have to prepare their lunch
because school might be closed due to the approaching the typhoon.

But, when I went to my 6-year-old daughter's nursery school to pick her up, her teacher told me that they would prepare school lunch tomorrow.

I thought it was strange that the correspondence about school lunches was different in the elementary school and the nursery school even though both of them are managed by our city.

Actually, the scale of the typhoon was small, and it was already downgraded to a extratropical cyclone at 3am today.

Unless the storm warning is in effect for our city, school isn't closed.

I have to prepare my son's lunch today.

I understand that the teachers at his school just played it safe, but it was just troublesome to me.

Snowball fight

It snowed in the early morning yesterday and the snow had already piled up about 10cm when my children woke up at 7am.

I opened the sliding shutter of the bedroom and said:

"Good morning! Look at outside. We are in the snow country!"

They who usually can't wake up at once jumped out of bed and looked outside.

"Wow!! Pure white!"

Thanks to the snow, they got up earlier than usual.

Before I took my 5-year-old daughter to the nursery school, I removed the snow which had piled on my car.

And I threw it to my daughter.

She was excited and threw the snow back to me.

We enjoyed the snowball fight for a while.

Then one of our neighbors who was removing the snow on his car called my daughter:

"Come on and look at it!"

He made a snowman for her.

"Wow! He made Olaf!"

Since we enjoyed the snow too much, my daughter was almost late for the nursery school.

Maybe even adults might be able to go back to the innocent times of childhood if we can enjoy playing in the snow.

I thought it was really good for me because I had a day off yesterday and I had enough time to enjoy playing with my daughter in the morning.

I went shopping in the afternoon.

The snow was already started to melt, but it still remained in the places where there was no sunshine.

When my 7-year-old son came back from school, I told him:

"I bought two snacks. You told me that you need some boxes in the art class, so I chose them."

"Thank you!"

Needless to say that I bought them not only for him but also for me.

I love chocolate pie!

It is snowing!

My 5-year-old daughter told me last night:

"We poured water into some small empty plastic containers and placed them on the balcony at the nursery school!"

"Maybe the weather forecast said that maybe it will snow tomorrow and the water will freeze in the early morning?"

"Yes! It is not winter if it will not snow! If it will snow tomorrow, we will be able to play with snow!"

My 7-year-old son also said:

"We also did it at school."

"If it snows tomorrow, I can soon find out when I wake up in the morning.
Whenever it snows, it is silent, and very bright outside."

"I am looking forward to tomorrow!"

They said.

It snows about two or three times a year around here, so it is rare to play with snow for children.

When I woke up this morning and saw the entrance door, it looked white.

I opened the window of the living room, it was snowing!

It is still snowing now.

My children will be happy to see it.

School is closed?

My children's schools were closed due to the typhoon yesterday morning.

The storm warning was in effect for our city.

Since I told them that the schools would not be closed tomorrow because the typhoon was not so strong, they were so glad to hear that the school was closed.

But school would be open from 1:30pm if the storm warning would be canceled until 11:00am.

After the typhoon made landfall, the wind became stronger.

So all of us thought that the school would be canceled today.

My 6-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter were playing together happily at home.

"It's 11am. I am going to check whether the storm warning is still in effect."
"Please!"

Unfortunately, the storm warning had been already canceled at 10:30.

I told them,

"That's too bad. But it was good that there was no damage."

But my 6-year-old son couldn't contain his anger.

"No! I don't want to go to school! It's your fault!"

"It is NOT my fault! I can't help it!"

I had to wait that his anger settles down.

He went to school at 1:00 pm, and I took my daughter to the nursery school after that.

She didn't get angry with me.

After she reached school, it was the time to take a nap.

She only went to school to take a nap and have an afternoon snack.

Anyway, it was good for us that there was no damage due to this typhoon.

Too cold day!

My husband and I went to our children's nursery school to attend to the parents day yesterday.

He attended our 5-year-old son's class and I attended our 4-year-old class.

It was so cold yesterday that I had a stomachache during the class.

I could see that my son's class played dodge ball outside.

They looked so cold, especially the parents couldn't stay in one place.

All of them were stamping their feet to keep warm.

I am a member of PTA, so I had a responsibility to stand in front of the entrance of the nursery and secure the safety of the kids and parents who were going home yesterday.

While I was standing outside, I couldn't think of anything because it was too cold.

After I came back home, I went shopping and I bought a choco pie.

I don't know why, but I want to eat chocolate when it is very cold.

I gave way to temptation of "limited time offer" again!

When I got up in this morning, It was snowing!

It rarely snows around here, but it has already piled more than 10cm today!

I am worried that whether I will be able to go to my office or not today.

I don't have studless winter tires!

Having been surprised at the Electone school

My 5-year-old son goes to the YAMAHA music school to learn how to play the Electone every Saturday morning.

*Electone : It is the trademark used for electronic organs produced by YAMAHA corporation.

Once I also had been a student of the music school more than 30 years.

But I quitted it 2 years ago because I began to my work and I became busy.

So I would like my children to learn how to play the Electone instead of me.

I usually take him to the school and my husband takes care of my 4-years-old daughter at home.

But since he went to bed at 4am yesterday because he had an end-of-year party with his coworkers, I guessed he would not be able to wake up early.

So I also took my daughter to the music school yesterday.

However, it was decided who sat where every time and the next seat of us was sat by the other mother and child.

So she needed to sit down on a seat away from us.

I was worried that she would want to sit down next to us, but she said "OK!"

I handed her a notebook, colored pencils, and colored pens for drawing pictures.

The lesson is for one hour.

During his lesson, she didn't talk and wander around, she kept quiet and was absorbed drawing pictures.

The teacher suddenly said, "Oh, it began to snow!"

It was the first time in this year to see the snow, so we were excited.

I looked at her, she was pop-eyed with surprise, but she still kept quiet.

In the latter half of lessons, I heard her saying , " Mom, I'm tired."

The other mother who sat down next to her told her, "You must be tired because you were painting pictures all the time. But you could kept quiet. Good job!"

She was glad to hear that.

I handed her seals which I had, so she started playing them again.

I was impressed by her attitude so much.

But after they finished the lessons, she was still absorbed playing the seals.

She wouldn't stop it soon!
