Her smile makes everybody smile

After our travel I had to do a lot of laundry and had it for 3 times yesterday.

I spent whole day washing our clothings yesterday.

Considering that we visited a tropical country, we have to set another clothing style---- it's hard to visit a country with a different season!

I am going to write another topic related to our Guam experience.

I was surprised at my 4-year-old daughter because she's very expressive and greeted everyone whom she meets by saying HELLO though she only knew hello in English.

She didn't mind about the people she encountered and she's not even aware that people were speaking different language.

Each time she greeted someone by saying "hello", that person will definitely exchanged a smile with her as she's too charming by her way of greeting them.

I was amazed that children's smile will become universal and influence foreigners to also smile.

To me speaking English for the first time made me so nervous but she wasn't.



Even with her bubbly personality and she almost showed her smile to everyone, she once got mad with someone.

The time when we were still at the airport upon check-in, one of the staff called her "baby" and that made her so annoyed.

I told my daughter about it, then suddenly she got angry and said in Japanese,
"I am NOT a baby!"

The airport staff apologized to her and said "Oh, I'm sorry. You're already a big sister, right?" and it seems that she was not satisfied and she looked furious and it made everybody laughed at her funny gesture.

A story of the tunnel which can transform into something

My 5-year-old son was absorbed in making a picture story after we finished dinner yesterday.

A picture story is one of the traditional Japanese culture.

We face each other and the storyteller read the story showing some pictures.

He made a story and drew some pictures.

The tytle of the story was "The Tunnel Which Can Transform Into Something".

Something can transform itself after it goes through the tunnel.

 

 

 



"えい"(ei = Ray) transformed "いえ(ie = house). ( the example of above photo)

"たい"(tai = sea bream) transformed "いた(ita = ouch).

"かえる（蛙）" (kaeru = frog) transformed "かえる（帰る）" ( kaeru = go home).

I admired that he could make such a story.

But I found the picture book which is the same story with his on a website today.

Maybe his teacher would have read them the book of that story, and he would have imitated it!

The first month anniversary!

Finally, one month passed by since I started my blog.

I appreciate that many people ( including my important friends and teachers) spent your precious time for reading my blog even though this blog is only my diary and my practice of English.

I hope that the people who read my blog will enjoy it!


 

Will I be able to improve my English better to keep writing?

Will I be able to express my feeling in English freely someday?

I am not sure, but I believe that I will be able to fulfill my dream someday if I never give up.

I may sometimes take a rest, but I will keep writing this blog.

How do I teach English to my children?

I take a bath with my children every night.

Before we step out of the bath, I sometimes tell my children "Let's count ten before we go out!".

But last night, my four-year-old daughter said "Let's count thirty in English! One, two, three..."

She can count from number 1 to 30 in English.

She continued, "Twenty-eight, twenty-nine, forty!"

"No, thirty!"

I said and we laughed together.

Even if she can count the numbers in Japanese, she also sometimes make mistakes.



My policy for them when it comes to studying English, if for them to have fun and enjoy it.

I am very careful that studying English will not become a "duty" for them.

I would like my children to become interested in learning English by letting them listen to English songs.


I bought some CD's  of English children songs.

While listening to the music many times, they will be able to learn their favorite songs by heart.

I am so surprised that sometimes they sing English songs with correct pronunciation like a native speaker.

Even though they don't know the meeaning of the song, they just imitate the correct pronunciation of the lyrics of the songs.

I envy them because they can easily remember many things!

I need time more than 3 times to learn the English words than my children, but I will do my best!

Doraemon speaks in English!

I borrow some picture books for my children at the library once in two weeks.

My aim is to read more than 100 books a year for my children.

We have been achieving this aim for nearly 3 years because we like to read picture books very much.


Last week, I borrowed the "manga" books of "Doraemon" at the library.

"Doraemon" is one of the most famous and popular animation character in Japan since I was a baby.

These books were published for Japanese people who are learning English and these could also be used as teaching materials for English.

"Doraemon" speaks in English but Japanese translation are also written in the book.

Moral lessons that are written in English, and are explained in Japanese could be found at the end of the books.

 

These are very interesting for me!


I heard on the news that "Doraemon"  started  being broadcasted in America in this summer.

The news said that some bilateral cultural differences in "Doraemon" were revised.

Actually I don't think this is a good idea.

I think that it is better not to correct the cultural differences because they are the most interesting things.
