My 7-year-old son's masterpiece ~ GeGeGe no Kitaro~

My 7-year-old son drew a picture of GeGeGe no Kitaro (ゲゲゲの鬼太郎) at the children's house yesterday.

GeGeGe no Kitaro is the famous and popular manga written by Shigeru Mizuki.

It is old and I also liked watching the anime when I was a child.

My children love it TV very much.

He showed his drawings to me proudly.

"Look! They are Kitaro and Ittanmomen (一反木綿 / いったんもめん)."

He cut each of them and made them to be able to connect.

This Kitaro is made to be able to attack his enemy by one of his special moves called "Kaminokebari (髪の毛針)".

I was impressed with his idea.

I want him to try drawing and making something like this.

I believe creating something will grow children's creativity and imagination.

Astro Boy

I go to the library twice a month to borrow books for children.

I have kept the custom for five years because I want my children to become book lovers.

I borrowed the book "Astro Boy" last Wednesday.

It is a famous and popular old Japanese comic (manga) written by Osamu Tezuka.

I have known the little robot named Atom in the comic, but I have never known the story.

Since my children wanted to read it last night, I read it to them.

It was really a nice story.

The comic was first written in the 1950s, it was the era of after World War 2.

I felt the people had a longing for the progress of science and better future in those days.

My children enjoyed reading it very much.

No matter how much the time has passed,  it still stands the test of time.

An injection again?

I needed to take my children to the hospital to get a flu shot again yesterday.

I wrote the first story last month.

It was so difficult to take my 4-year-old daughter.

http://a-o-j-m.blogspot.jp/2014/10/i-dislike-injection.html

So this time, I didn't tell her about the injection until we went to the hospital.

Before we left home, she asked me " Where are we going?"

I answered "Hospital."

She seemed to guess about the injection, she turned pale and said, "No! I don't like to go!"

I told her " But you need to go!"

I carried her , she acted violently, but I as able to put her on the car.

Since she wouldn't get off when we arrived the hospital, I had to drag her down form the car.

While we were waiting, I told her,

"You were crying while waiting last time, but this time you are not crying! Wow! You became stronger than before!"

I continued, "You can do it. When you get an injection, why don't you close your eyes? I will be hugging you while you are having the vaccine, so don't worry!"

She told me " Can I do that?  I am scared."

But she closed her eyes and put up with it!

She didn't cry!

The doctor and nurses praised her.

She was stunned for a while but she became her usual self afterwards.

As for my 5-year-old son,  he is good at having a shot recently.

He never cries!

They got at the hospital as a reward for putting up with the injection!

My son got the "Youkai Watch" tissue because he likes it very much.

It is now very popular among the children.

Doraemon speaks in English!

I borrow some picture books for my children at the library once in two weeks.

My aim is to read more than 100 books a year for my children.

We have been achieving this aim for nearly 3 years because we like to read picture books very much.

Last week, I borrowed the "manga" books of "Doraemon" at the library.

"Doraemon" is one of the most famous and popular animation character in Japan since I was a baby.

These books were published for Japanese people who are learning English and these could also be used as teaching materials for English.

"Doraemon" speaks in English but Japanese translation are also written in the book.

Moral lessons that are written in English, and are explained in Japanese could be found at the end of the books.

These are very interesting for me!

I heard on the news that "Doraemon"  started  being broadcasted in America in this summer.

The news said that some bilateral cultural differences in "Doraemon" were revised.

Actually I don't think this is a good idea.

I think that it is better not to correct the cultural differences because they are the most interesting things.
