Thank you teacher!

My 6-year-old son practises calculation every day at elementary school.

His teacher gives handout of calculation (addition and subtraction), writing Kanji, and so on every day.

Students do it and hand in it to the teacher then she scores it and returns it to them.

My son often scribbles on the back of the paper.

I was impressed to see the handout he brought yesterday.

This is a math handout.

He drew "Jibanyan" which is a popular character of a ghost cat from a famous children's anime called "Youkai Watch".

His teacher stamped praises like "OK", "Cool!","Good job" on it.

She checked student's handout very well and she was not only giving scores but also praising even his scribble.

I have heard from my son before that his teacher put his drawing on the wall of the classroom.

He told me,

"Look at this! My drawing of a dinosaur has been displayed in my class!"

She mounted his drawing on the green paper and wrote her impressions to it under his drawing.

It is written, like that,

"Scribble gallery corner (Oct, 2) ", " I can see how thick the dinosaur is from his picture. It is also well-drawn the thickness of its tail and what it looks like  inside mouth in detail."

"Why? Maybe your teacher found that you were drawing and suggested to display it?"

"Yeah."

"Good for you! You must be proud!"

He smiled happily but felt shy.

She also put the shiny sticker which children must be glad to see.

I think it shows great considerations!

I am grateful to his teacher for finding his favorite activity and praising his work.

As a result, it made him like it more.

It is very worthwhile for children to be praised by someone aside from their parents.

The duty of serving the school lunch

After we came back home, my 6-year-old son told me,

"I won the milk Rock-paper-scissors again!"

"What's that?"

I asked him.

"Children who want to have more milk gather and we decide who can get it by Rock-paper-scissors at lunch time."

"So you had two bottles of milk today!"

"Yeah. The milk of school lunch is yummy!"

He answered.

According to my son, children in the same class are divided into four groups, and they have a duty of serving the school lunch once a month.

The school lend white cooking wears and hats to students.

Children who are on duty serve on the plate or bowl, bring them to another students, clean the table and so on.

Their teacher give their each tasks.

While they are serving, another students are waiting while reading a book.

When I was 3-6 years old, I went to the nursery school.

Since I was a picky eater, I had a lot of food which I didn't want to eat.

But teacher didn't allow that I left some food, so I had to eat up all of school lunch.

So I often had lunch weeping during lunch looking at another chidren who already finished lunch and were playing outside the school.

But now, children can reduce their food if they start to eat.

And if they could not eat up though they did their best, they can leave their food.

Recently the children who have food allergy are increasing, so teachers can't force to make children eat up lunch.

I really think that times have changed.

Thinking of school lunch

Since it was a parent's day at my 6-year-old son's elementary school, I went there to see their class yesterday afternoon.

His class held a class activity about thinking of school lunch.

The teacher asked them how school lunch are made and what are cooks thinking while they are cooking.

Some children raised their hands and told their opinions to every one.

Then teacher showed them a video which how they are making school lunch recorded by her.

According to her, she went to the supply center of school meals owned by our city before to record the video for the class.

Children were surprised at the big pan and ladle in the video.

I was surprised that cooks washed spinach three times to prevent food poisoning.

Cooks told children that they hope children enjoy school lunch and eat all of them.

And they also thought that school lunch become more delicious for children while they are making.

At the last of the class, children wrote a letter to the cooks.

Everyone wrote "Thank you for the nice lunch every day."

It was a nice class for children.

The teacher taught them why they need to eat up everything.

Thanks for school lunch, my children can eat a lot of vegetables recently, but they often complain about the menu.

Actually I can understand their feelings (I was a child who often complained about meals to my mother.)

But I hope they can eat up everything of school lunch for their health and become a person who can thank for cooks, farmers who grew vegetables, and so on.

Uunforgettable Day

Yesterday was the last day for my 6-year-old son to go to the nursery school.

My children enjoyed a balmy spring day at the nursery school.

It was a very warm day, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom.

When I reached the nursery school to pick them up after I finished my work, he was playing soccer with his friends.

I was so impressed because he no longer looked a little baby, he was a boy who had grown up.

I recalled his first day for him at the nursery school.

His teacher told me that he didn't have lunch at all.

I looked at him, he almost started to cry.

It is a fond memory for us now.

I always want to go home with them quickly because I would be busy for housework at home, but I wanted to watch them playing soccer enjoyably a little more.

He and I said a final thank-you to his class teacher.

She will be transferred to another nursery school from April.

She was cheerful and very kind to children.

I know she loved children very much because she really watched children well and always told parents about our children a lot.

She sometimes a little strict to them with love, but I liked her way of taking care of children.

My son and I liked her very much and I really thank her.

She is also a mother with two children, so we enjoyed talking about our children.

After we came home, I suggested my children to go to the park near our house to see cherry blossoms because the weather forecast said that it would last rainy days for a while from tommorow and I thought today was the last day which we could see cherry blossoms.

They were so excited and said, "I want to go! "

We walked to the park singing songs.

Since we rarely go out in the night, they were so exited.

The park was illuminated.

It was for the first time to see cherry blossoms at night.

They were so fantastic and beautiful beyond description.

We were fascinated by them for a while.

Then they started playing with other children around playground equipments.

We stayed in the park for more than one and a half hours.

Thanks to him, I was able to become a mother.

The things which are for the first time for my son are also for the first for me.

So he is a little nervous about the new life.

And I also a little worried whether he will be able to get used to the new life soon.

March of parting and the departure ends and April of an encounter and begininng is coming!

His "Randoseru" finally arrived!

My 6-year-old son's "Randoseru" finally arrived at home yesterday!

Since he will enter the elementary school in April, we already ordered it last August.

It is a back pack made of leather.

Elementary school children put text books into it and carry them to the school.

(If you know the Japanese anime "Doraemon", you can see the children carrying them.)

I was so impressed to look at the Randoseru because it meant that he would become an elementary school student soon.

The time passed so quickly.

I feel as if  he were born only a few days ago.

As for my son, he looked not so happy.

I thought the reaction was just like him.

He has a character that he doesn't express his happy feeling straightly.

In fact, it resembles his father's character.

It was funny for me.
