Happy Wedding Party!

I attended my friend's wedding ceremony yesterday.

Seeing their happy smile, I felt happy and recalled my wedding ceremony.
The groom and bride must be happy that many people came to their ceremony to cerebrate with them.

I was also able to see my friends who were in the same high school, so we enjoyed talking very much.

Yesterday was blessed by the weather, they started the new life.

I wished their happiness from the bottom of my heart.

They did "kagami-biraki" in their wedding party.

It is sometimes performed in joyful events like wedding party, the championship party of Sumo and so on.

The groom and bride cracked by the gavel to open the wooden cask filled with "sake (Japanese alchol) " .

Wedding Truck as one of the Regional Customs

A wedding truck was driving ahead of me on my way to the office yesterday morning.

I saw it for the first time in a while.

It is part of our regional custom that for married couple furniture will be delivered to their house  right before their wedding day.

When someone get married, their parents usually buy their wedding furniture.

Interestingly, furniture stores in our place have wedding trucks and a "kanji" character "寿" printed on its body which means "congratulations" is one of the ways which will allow people to know that a couple is getting married.

The wedding truck is sometimes decorated with red and white color which signifies happiness for Japanese people.

As part of some old beliefs if a wedding truck is on its way to deliver the furniture and I 've heard that when it encounters a coming vehicle, it must continue to go on along the way and not to go back on its way specially in a narrow road.

In this case, the  other driver has to give way for the wedding truck to continue passing the same way without changing its direction. Going back means bad luck for the married couple.

The truck driver will give  the other driver what we so called "happy money".

When we got married, the sale person of the furniture store asked us whether we would order the wedding truck or not.

Since we didn't want to stand out in our neighbors, so we refused their offer.

I followed the truck without overtake a truck because I thought it was a good luck for me.

But it was only a normal day!

A wedding invitation

I received a wedding invitation recently.

A friend of mine who was my classmate in high school will be getting married January next year.

I met her once during our college reunion after 16 years last October.

I attended together with my two friends and she was there too with her friends.

Since all of us went to the same high school and it had been so long since we've met, we got excited over talking about the old days.

She mentioned about her getting married next year, so all of us were invited to attend her wedding ceremony.

It was such a long time since I attended a wedding ceremony, so I am looking forward this event after she invited me.

These are stamps for the auspicious event which will be used in sending the wedding invitation to all attendees.

92 yen stamp is for the envelope of invitation, and 52 yen stamp is for reply confirm the attendance.

It is one of our customs to use these stamps for a wedding invitation.

It has been said that it is unlucky to paste two stamps on one envelope because it connotes separation of the couple.

We have various manners to follow when it comes to ceremonial occasions in our country.
