Question: Is Oanmaki a specific brand from a specific company or just a generic term for a specific type of food? If it is product of a specific company then I think (but am not certain) that you can capitalize the O in Oanmaki. If it is a generic name then the o should probably be lower case (unless it is at the start of a sentence which again means it should be capitalized Oanmaki).

Yes. Oanmaki is a specific brand but there are some companies which produce Oanmaki.
Fujitaya corporation is one of the famous company, and he bought them at Fujitaya store.
In this case, can I write it Oanamaki?
In that case if it is a specific brand which is made by a specific company I would capitalize it. The fact that other companies also use the name doesn't really make a difference (as far as I know).

They are so popular that people often say they will Hoover the house even when technically what they are doing in vacuuming the house. Even if they don't own a vacuum cleaner made by Hoover. People often call their vacuum cleaners "Hoover".
Hoover is a trademark and as such should usually be capitalized.
If Oanmaki is trademarked by a specific company then it should be capitalized. Even if other companies/people use the term to mean a general food type like Oanmaki.
An example of something that would not be capitalized would be "cookie".
Cookie is a general term for biscuit and is not trade marked by any company.
But Oreo Cookie is trademarked and when that is used it would be capitalized. It is a specific type of cookie.
But again don't worry too much. No one will even notice, the only reason I brought it up is because I know you want to know that kind of thing.
