A very irritating day

I went to work yesterday.

My work shift was from noon to 5pm, but we had a trouble and had to deal with it.

As a result, I had to work overtime for one hour.

Before I left home, I asked my husband:

"Can you prepare dinner today? I will come home at the latest by about 5:30."

"OK."

He said.

Before I left home, he e-mailed to me and saying that he and our children were at the shopping mall.

I called him and asked him:

"Haven't you finished making dinner yet?"

"Not yet. We are at the appliance store and we will leave here in 30 minutes."

He answered unapologetically.

We usually have dinner at 6pm, after that, I do housework and take a bath with my children at 8pm, and go to bed with them at 9pm.

If the time we go to bed is later than 9pm, I know that my children will not be able to get up at 7am the next morning and it will be a hard time for me to wake them up though the morning is the busiest time.

I really want to avoid that situation.

And my 6-year-old daughter takes a long time to finish meals, for example, she always takes about an hour to finish dinner.

That's why I want my children to finish dinner.

I was really upset to hear his answer, but it can't be helped.

I came home at 6:20pm.

I was surprised that my 7-year-old son had not put his toys away and the room was messy.

To make matters worse, the window at the stairs wasn't closed and it had rained strongly.

The stairs were soaked with rain, so I had to wipe them with a cloth.

I tried to contain my anger and made dinner.

They came home after seven.

My son had not finished his homework yet and my daughter took for a long time to finish dinner because she was playing while eating.

It is needless to say at that point that I was most angry.

  1. Hello Kumi-san,

Sorry to hear about your very stressful day. Still there is always tomorrow.

Here is a list of some of the issues found with the rest of the post:

    This line:
    Too irritated day

    Should be:
    An irritating day

    Or:
    A very irritating day

    Or:
    An annoying day

    This line:
My work shift was from noon to 5pm, but a trouble happened and we had to deal with it.

    Should be:
My work shift was from noon to 5pm, but we had trouble and had to deal with it.

Reason: Reworded sentence to make it sound more natural

    This line:
"Can you prepare dinner today? I will come home at the latest until about 5:30."

    Should be:
"Can you prepare dinner today? I will come home at the latest (by about) 5:30."

    This line:
Before I left home, he e-mailed to me and it said he and our children were at the shopping mall.

    Should be:
Before I left home, he e-mailed me and (saying that/informing me that) he and our children were at the shopping mall.

    This line:
"Not yet. We are at the appliance Store and we will leave here in 30 minutes."

    Should be:
"Not yet. We are at the appliance store and we will leave here in 30 minutes."

Reason: "Store" does not need to be upper-case so changed to "store".

    This line:
We usually have dinner at 6pm, after that, I do housework and take a bath with children at 8pm, and go to bed with them at 9pm.

    Should be:
We usually have dinner at 6pm, after that, I do housework and take a bath with (the/my) children at 8pm, and go to bed with them at 9pm.

Reason: Added missing filler words (the/my) to make sentence grammatically correct.

    This line:
I really want to avoid the situation.

    Should be:
I really want to avoid that situation.

    This line:
And my 6-year-old daughter takes a long time to finish meals, for example, she always takes for about an hour to finish dinner.

    Should be:
And my 6-year-old daughter takes a long time to finish meals, for example, she always takes about an hour to finish dinner.

Reason: Removed word "for" as it was not needed and it makes the sentence grammatically correct.

    This line:
I was surprised that my 7-year-old son had not put his toys away at all and the room was messy.

    Should be:
I was surprised that my 7-year-old son had not put his toys away and the room was messy.

    Or:
I was surprised that my 7-year-old son had not put any of his toys away and the room was messy.

    This line:
To make matters worse, the window at the stairs wasn't closed and it rained strongly.

    Should be:
To make matters worse, the window at the stairs wasn't closed and it had rained strongly.

    This line:
The stairs were soaked with rain, so I had to wipe with a cloth.

    Should be:
The stairs were soaked with rain, so I had to wipe them with a cloth.

    This line:
I tried to endure my anger and made dinner.

    Should be:
I tried to contain my anger and made dinner.

Reason: We generally use the word "contain/constrain/conceal/hide" when wanting to indicate that we are angry and do not want to show it.

    Example:
I had just cleaned the floor and my children ran through the room with muddy shoes on. I had difficulty concealing my anger.

Sometimes are get angry and have difficulty containing my anger from other people. I

    This line:
It is needless to say that my anger reached the top.

    Should be:
It is needless to say at that point that (I was most angry/my anger was at its maximum/I had reached my limit).

    1. Hello Terry!
Thank you for a lot of corrections again.
I didn't know how to use "contain".
I always learned a lot of things from you.
      Thank you so much!

    2. In one of my correction I noticed a typing mistake in this line:

Sometimes are get angry and have difficulty containing my anger from other people. I

      The line should be:
Sometimes I get angry and have difficulty containing my anger from other people.

      Apologies for any confusion caused.
